To enter Venezuela it is necessary to hold a valid passport and a tourist card which one is issued on flight. Only an entrance card is required for travelers with passport from the United States, Canada or European Community. Some other nationalities need a visa.

 

HOUR

 

The official time in Venezuela is four hours less (- 4) than the standard

GMT-England.

 

HEALTH

 

No vaccination is obligatory. If you think of staying in tropical forest, we

recommend to take with you some pills against the malaria.

On Margarita, we would suggest to you moderated exposure to the sun, as it is very strong. Use a good sun lotion, cap and sunglasses.

Public phones operate with prepaid phone cards, which can be bought in any

 libraries, drug stores and others kinds of shops.

United states & Canada country code: 1

You can use direct country too, it’s an international service which allows you to contact an operator of the telecommunication company of the country

you are calling. The bill is charged to the called party with acceptation.

 

TRANSPORT
 

Many of the leading international rental-car agencies are represented on the island. To rent a car, you must be older than 21, have a valid license and a major credit card (Visa or MasterCard). It’s strongly recommended to ask for a full coverage insurance. Driving is on the right side.

Taxis are not so expensive. Nevertheless, it is always a good idea to agree on a fare beforehand.

ELECTRICITY & WATER
 

Electricity is 110 Volts. Plugs are the same than US standard plugs.

You may need an adapter.

Water comes from the mainland through an underwater pipe.

We recommend that you do not drink water from the tap. Instead consume bottled or filtered water.

 

YOU SHOULD CARRY

 

Generally, carry light and comfortable clothing and shoes. For some

excursions in forest, take with you an impermeable and good sport shoes. Don’t forget your personal prescriptions.

BOLIVAR 

The Venezuela currency is the Bolivar. Foreign currencies or travellers checks can be exchanged at banks or exchange houses.

Most shops and restaurants accept international credit cards;

some can add you 10 % of extra charge for the use of your credit cards.
